Springfield is a neighborhood located in the urban core of Jacksonville, just north of downtown. One of the reasons The Well made it’s home here is due to the rich inteserction of wealthy, poor, black, white & brown neighbors who share this space together. While Springfield was home to many of Jacksonville’s most affluent residents in the early 1900s, it declined in the mid-1900s as new roads developed that isolated Springfield from surrounding communities. Despite its decline, historic Springfield has become a focus of development and renewal once again.

A number of community groups, non-profits and other organizations make significant contributions to preserving the heritage of Springfield, while also working to create a future of flourishing together.
