The Wild Goose Festival is an annual art, music, and story-driven festival grounded in faith-inspired social justice. It has been a source of renewal, connection & ongoing formation for many people over the past 10+ years. Author, pastor & activist Brian McLaren describes it as a space where “people flock together to celebrate a way of life rooted in faith, justice, creativity, and beauty. It’s like a family reunion where you meet relatives you never knew you had.”
This year, we are creating several weekend opportunities to experience the spirit of The Goose right here in our community. Our first gathering is happening February 19-20, 2022 and our theme is “Faith, Sexuality & Belonging”. We’re still finalizing the details, so stay tuned, but for now, here’s what you need to know:
Saturday, February 19
Morning
“Gathering the Geese” Brunch at Patti & Dana’s (1327 Walnut St.): Join us from 10 a.m.-noon for a casual bring-something-to-share brunch as we welcome the weekend through food & conversation.
Evening
Spilling the T on Faith & Sexuality: Coming out as LGBTQIA+ can be one of the hardest journeys a person undergoes, especially when you’ve been formed by a faith that tells you it's a journey you should not take. Our faith inspires us to see it as a sacred journey and we want to create a safe space to share these coming out stories & to have honest conversation about how we navigate the tension between faith + sexuality. Join us on Saturday evening, Feb. 19th, 7-9 p.m. at Alewife (1035 Park St.) for an evening of open mic story sharing, conversation and connection with others.
Sunday, February 20
"Drag Me to Church" at Hyperion Brewing Co: Through scripture, life experience, and some good humor, The Lady Douché will lead our Sunday gathering. There will be singing, there will be prayers. She may read the scripture, she may read you. But you will know that you have been seen and that you belong. We start coming together at 10 am for food, coffee & conversation and drag church will begin at 10:30 a.m.
**We will be assessing necessary COVID precautions as we get closer to the event**
