Let's enjoy good music + good food while also feeding our food-insecure neighbors!
PorchFest 2025 is almost here and we are hosting a bring-something-to-share brunch to kick off the day together. We'll wrap up by noon to catch the first performances. If you plan to stick around, bring a folding chair if you have one.
In light of the current increased demand on local food banks, we are also collecting these items to be shared with DESC (Downtown Ecumenical Services Council). According to their research, in Duval County alone, an estimated 66,000 households depend on SNAP—representing more than $20 million each month in food support that will suddenly stop. Let's join together to support their food sharing program in this tenuous time. Here are the items they are requesting right now:
Canned meats (ex: tuna, chicken, Spam, ham)
Chili, beef stew or canned pasta with meat
Beans: canned or dry
Canned vegetables, fruits and meats
Cereal
Rice
Pasta (all types, plus macaroni & cheese boxes)
Spaghetti Sauce
Instant mashed potatoes or potato flakes
Oats and instant oatmeal packets
Grits or cream of wheat
Canned fruit in juice (not syrup)
Canned vegetables (corn, green beans, mixed vegetables, peas, carrots)
Applesauce cups or jars
100% fruit juice (shelf-stable cartons or bottles)
