Church in the Wild
Each month (usually the 4th Sundays), we intentionally set aside time to connect with God & one another through nature. We have explored trails, parks & beaches, hosted farm work days, and even kayaked together. Our April Church in the Wild will take place at the UNF Trails. We will begin gathering at 10 a.m. at the UNF trails and start our time together at 10:30 am. Meet us at the picnic tables near the Red Maple Boardwalk sign. The area is wheelchair accessible. Parking and trail info is located beside Building 52 (Parking Services).
**If this is your first CITW gathering, welcome! During most CITW gatherings, we begin with some kind of centering readings, then are sent into nature to listen. We bring back a "sermon from the wild" (what did we hear/see/notice? what was nature inviting us to know/be/do?) and return for a time of sharing. Here is a sample gathering guide.

Letting Go, Holding On Gathering (faith deconstruction & religious trauma group)
Join us starting March 2nd for *6 consecutive Mondays / 6:30 Doors Open / 7 p.m. Start time
Navigating faith shifts, religious trauma and deconstruction can be a long, lonely road. This six-session group offers a supportive space to share stories, reflect together, and process what we’re navigating—including the good, the hard, the heavy and the hopeful parts.
Whether you’re still unraveling, rebuilding, or simply curious about how others are navigating similar shifts, we’d love for you to join us.
*Attend the sessions you are able to attend.
About our facilitator: Brooks Decker is a writer, artist, and mental health counselor. She spent many years deeply involved in non-denominational Christianity, both to her benefit and detriment. She has spent the past decade in some version of deconstruction, having comfortably landed with more questions than answers. You can learn more about her here: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/brooks-decker-jacksonville-fl/1165780
Easter Sunday Gathering
We will host an Easter Sunday Gathering on Overalls Farm 3 on April 5th at 10:30 a.m. We'll gather for a bring-something-to-share brunch + gathering followed by an egg hunt for our children. There are several ways to help us make it happen, including being one of our "table hosts", bringing stuffed eggs, tents and/or other supplies. A sign-up can be found here.
Maundy Thursday Dinner + Story-sharing
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
—Henri Nouwen
Maundy Thursday is when we remember the night Jesus gathered with his friends for a final meal. Maundy comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning “command.” It refers to the simple yet radical command Jesus offered his friends that night: love one another as I have loved you.
He did more than speak these words, though; he embodied them through washing their feet.
This Maundy Thursday, we’re invited to remember how love has been embodied and experienced in the ordinary moments of our lives. It may have been a tender hand, a gift given, words of encouragement, an expression of care that you witnessed in community, or something else.
We’ll begin with a baked ziti dinner, and after dinner, share brief stories in response to these prompts:
Looking back, is there an experience that revealed love to you in a tangible way? What do you remember about that moment, relationship, or event? Tell us about it.
Begin thinking about what you may want to share, and join us for a night of remembering “love made flesh” through sharing food and stories.

Sabbath Sunday
“Rest is an act of defiance…It’s the audacity to face the demands of this world and proclaim, We will not be owned.” —Cole Arthur Riley
We can’t trade empty for empty
We must go to the waterfall
For there’s a break in the cup that holds love
Inside us all
—David Wilcox
Since The Well started, rest has been an important part of our rhythm of life. Rest is not a reward for working hard; it’s a gift meant for everyone. It is an act of resistance to grind culture, which tells us we are only worth what we produce.
Instead of hosting a gathering this Sunday, we invite everyone to receive the gift of rest.
What does rest look like for you? It might look like unscheduled time with yourself, a loved one, or a neighbor. It might look like wandering or playing or reading or communing with the Creator by digging in the dirt or walking in the woods. Participating in sabbath might also look like making rest possible for someone who desperately needs it.
In the spirit of our Lent “love made flesh” theme, it can be space to consider what the Voice of love is inviting us know apart from all our “doing. It can offer us space to look back and reflect on what has been giving us life and what has been depleting our bodies, souls, and minds. ” . It can be room for those of us who define ourselves by our doing to “go to the waterfall”.
However you spend this Sunday (or this season!), please know that you are beloved & your worth was never dependent on your doing.
